Oscar-winning US actor Kevin Spacey is being investigated by British police over new sexual assault allegations brought by several men in the UK.

Scotland Yard confirmed that it is investigating accusations of sexual assault made by three men who came forward in February and April, which would bring the known total of Spacey accusers in Britain to at least six.

Spacey vanished from public view last fall after he was accused of sexually assaulting scores of young men or boys over years.

Spacey, 59, has been shunned by Hollywood since last October when he was first accused by actor Anthony Rapp, who said Spacey made sexual advances at a party in his New York City apartment in 1986 when Rapp was 14.

Spacey apologized and seemed to suggest his behavior was due to his being homosexual, which he acknowledged for the first time.

Among other humiliations, he was fired from Netflix's "House of Cards," his Gore Vidal biopic was canceled, he was cut out of  "All the Money in the World."

Also, the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences reversed its decision to award him.

The disgraced actor faces criminal prosecution in several Los Angeles, California and London. So far, however, no criminal charges have been filed against him anywhere.

Women in the US and UK have recently been coming forward to share encounters of sexual harassment and assault in the workplace, including in the media and entertainment industries and the realm of politics.

The unfolding debacle has so far engulfed big names such as Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, renowned interviewer Charlie Rose, as well as politicians like Democratic Senator Al Franken.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Hollywood’s de facto governing body, voted overwhelmingly in October to expel Weinstein amid mounting accusations of sexual harassment, assault and rape by at least 30 actresses.
