President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer, visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh on Sunday, July 1, just a few days after seeing the ruined villages in neighboring Rakhine state, where the refugees were from.

Since last August, more than 700,000 mostly Muslim Rohingya have taken shelter from violence in Myanmar in the Cox's Bazar District in Bangladesh, making it the world's largest and fastest growing refugee camp.

Maure also met with Myanmar's top leaders Aung San Suu Kyi, President U Win Myint and Commander-in-chief Min Aung Hlaing in Naypyitaw on Friday, June 29.
