The US Supreme Court’s decision to uphold President Donald Trump’s controversial travel ban on several Muslim-majority countries is clearly “anti-Muslim” and “a declaration of war,” says an analyst.

“The US is really at war with the most of the world now. When you ban people from coming, that means that country is your enemy and you are fighting it and if you look at the countries – Iraq is sort of okay. I think for a while, the list keeps changing, but Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Venezuela, North Korea, these are all countries that the US is at war with because they are protesting US imperialism,” Eric Walberg, author and journalist told Press TV in an interview on Wednesday.

The US Supreme Court has upheld President Trump’s controversial travel ban targeting several Muslim-majority countries, handing Trump one of the biggest victories of his presidency.

The top court rejected claims that the travel ban represented unconstitutional religious discrimination, and said that the immigration restriction fell "squarely" within the president's authority.

During the 2016 presidential race, Trump campaigned for "a total and complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the United States on the pretext of preventing terrorist attacks.

The US president has said the restrictions are needed to tighten security and prevent terrorist attacks. Opponents say the ban violates the US Constitution because it discriminates against Muslims and certain nationalities.
