Spain and the European Champions Portugal have battled out a 3-all draw to sit behind group B-table toppers Iran.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opening goal from the spot after only 4 minutes at the Fisht Olympic Stadium on Friday. Diego Costa leveled things up 13 minutes later but Ronaldo put the Portuguese back ahead just before the break.

The 2010 world cup champions started the second half with full force and stole the show with Costa scoring his second of the night and Nacho Fernandez giving his side the lead.

five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano wrapped up one of the great World Cup performances as he fired home a dramatic late free-kick to earn a valuable point for Portugal in a classic encounter in Sochi.
