Iranian volleyball player Ghaemi signs with Turkey’s Ziraat Bankası Ankara club

Iranian volleyball player Farhad Ghaemi has signed with Turkish volleyball club Ziraat Bankası Ankara, which competes in the Turkish Men's Volleyball League.

The 28-year-old recently penned a contract with the Ankara-based club, which is sponsored by the state-owned Ziraat Bankası, and established himself in its line-up for one year.

No information about the fee of the deal was immediately available.

Ghaemi, who plays as an outside spiker for the Iran men's national volleyball team, made his national debut in the 2012 Summer Olympics qualification games. 

Last week, Iran’s international setter Saeed Marouf joined Italian volleyball club Emma Villas Siena.

The 32-year-old captain of the Iran men’s national volleyball team signed a two-year contract with the team. The contract’s details have not been revealed though.

Marouf was named the best setter at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympic qualifying tournaments.

He was elected the most valuable player at the 2013 Asian Championship, and the best setter at the 2014 Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Volleyball World League.

He took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Marouf joined Russian Super League champions Zenit Kazan on a one-year contract in 2014 on a contract worth $1 million.
