Protests against tax rises in Jordan have entered their third consecutive night in the capital Amman on Sunday.

Police deployed tear gas and used batons to keep protesters from encroaching on the Fourth Circle, the location of the Prime Minister's office.

Demonstrators directed their anger against the government, calling for ministers to step. Jordan's King Abdullah II has called for compromise on all sides.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) backed tax hike has upset protesters, who feel it unjustly targets lower and middle income earners.
