Pandas in Chinese zoo beat heat with iced fruit

A zoo in Guangzhou in southern China is trying to keep their pandas cool in the summer heat with chilled food and frozen flooring.

According to a zookeeper, pools, ice machines, mist sprayers, wooden umbrellas and air conditioning are being used to provide a cooler environment for the pandas. Pandas have a low heat tolerance and can suffer heat stroke if the temperature exceeds 28°C. They need to stay indoors at temperatures of around 25°C, otherwise special cooling is needed.
