US foreign policy clearly aligns with the arsonist: Anaylist

The United States is the protector of Israeli aggression and its foreign policy clearly identifies with perpetrators of crimes, rather than its victims, according to Myles Hoenig, an American political analyst and activist. 

Hoenig, a former Green Party candidate for Congress, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Friday while commenting on US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley’s recent statement about Israel.

Haley said on Thursday that Washington will "unquestionably veto" a UN draft resolution calling for the protection of Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

After initially deciding to delay action on the measure, the Security Council was expected to finally go ahead with the vote at 7:00 pm (2300 GMT) on Friday. Haley called the text drafted by Kuwait on behalf of Arab countries as a "grossly one-sided approach that is morally bankrupt and would only serve to undermine ongoing efforts toward peace between the Israelis and Palestinians."

“It doesn’t matter if the US representative to the UN is Nikki Haley, Susan Rice for the Obama administration or even Jean Kirkpatrick for Ronald Reagan, the shameless lies that come out of the US foreign policy administration knows no bounds,” Hoenig said.

“Haley’s recent promise to veto any resolutions protecting Palestinians is only a continuation of long standing US policy, dictated by Israel and the military-industrial complex that relies on Israel’s cunning and interference in the Middle East to promote perpetual wars,” he stated.

“The US foreign policy clearly aligns with the arsonist, the murderer, the embezzler rather than any of their victims. They act like crimes committed against innocent people are encouraged. Today, blaming the Palestinians for the bloodthirsty actions of Israel and preventing further slaughter is par for the course,” the analyst noted.

“Haley’s, and even US representatives who sheepishly condemn Israel for the latest atrocities, always use the presence of Hamas as their foil. Nothing the Palestinians do can be on its own volition; it’s always manipulated by Hamas, even when the evidence overwhelmingly shows otherwise, as is the case in the last several weeks of Palestinian protests. Now that Hamas is actually taking an active role during these weeks of protests by firing glorified firecrackers into Israel makes Haley and the establishment apoplectic,” he stated.

“The world has condemned Israel for its blatant acts of murder and terrorism against peaceful Palestinian protesters, who only want to go home. Home, recognized by international law as where a people have been displaced from due to war, occupation, ethnic cleansing. Yet it is the UN body that formalizes world opinion and acts on it. With the US having a perpetual veto, the godfather of international criminality will put a stop to any real law enforcement,” he observed.  

“Can there be an upside to any of this? The Trump administration is finally giving some backbone to many of the US’s usual toadies at the UN on a whole range of issues. Trump’s trade war, pulling out of international agreements like the TPP, Climate Change, and the Iran Deal, for example, is finally causing real distance between the US and the world community. One can only hope that the US’s coattails will eventually only carry Israel on it, and no others,” the commentator concluded.

The United States is calling for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in the wake of what it claims to be Palestinian aggression against Israel.

Haley had vehemently supported Israel at the United Nations after Israeli troops killed more than 60 Palestinians and injured hundreds others at the Great Return March protests earlier this month.

Haley defended Israel’s “restraint” at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council before walking out of the room when Palestinian envoy Riyad Mansour began speaking.

She also cast blame on Hamas and its supporters for the bloodshed. Addressing the UN Security Council, Haley said, “Let's remember that the Hamas terrorist organization has been inciting violence for years, long before the United States decided to move our embassy. This is what is endangering the people of Gaza. Make no mistake, Hamas is pleased with the results from yesterday.”

At least 122 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the end of March.

Haley circulated a US draft resolution blaming Hamas for the recent violence in Gaza and demanding that Hamas and Islamic Jihad "cease all violent activity and provocative actions, including along the boundary fence,” AFP reported.

However, it’s unlikely that there will be voting on the US text because it will fail to garner enough support.
