New Israeli land grab

Another 3,900 Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories have received the green light. Some half a million Israeli settlers already live in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds. The UN considers settlements that Israel has built in the territory it captured in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war to be illegal. But emboldened by US President Donald Trump’s support, the Israelis are planning a new land grab; the total annexation of Syria’s occupied Golan Heights.

Deal-maker or deal-breaker?

The recent détente between the United States and North Korea seems to be fading away. The self-proclaimed ‘deal-maker’ President Donald Trump has pulled out of a much-anticipated summit with North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un. Trump’s announcement came after both sides once again engaged in hostile rhetoric. In a statement, Pyongyang said that the country is ready for a "nuclear showdown" if diplomacy fails to produce results. Still, the comments were a response to intensified US threats, including the notion of a Libya-style nuclear disarmament for North Korea.
