Warming Up to Russia

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Russia on Friday for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russia and the EU have been caught up on conflicting sides of international conflicts for years now. Relations between the two sides have been tense at best. But now, top European leaders are signaling a change in their relationship with Moscow after US President Donald Trump chose to undermine them with the decisions he’s made.

Taliban spring offensive

The Taliban’s spring offensive is in full swing. The militants attack almost anywhere they want in Afghanistan. One of the latest targets of the militant group was the capital of the western province of Farah. The city is heavily guarded by Afghan forces and US air power. But, Taliban militants fought their way in this week and killed over two dozen security forces and several civilians before suffering heavy casualties.
