Venezuela vote

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been reelected for another six year term in office, drawing angry reactions from his foreign adversaries. Venezuela’s National Election Council says Maduro won nearly 68 percent of the votes against 21 percent cast for his main rival, Henri Falcon. Falcon has rejected the election as illegitimate and demanded a new vote before the end of the year.

US, Iran policy 

The United States has unveiled its new policy on Iran. US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo has outlined America’s new plans to mount pressure on the Islamic republic. The anti-Iran mechanism is based on vast economic sanctions, even tougher than the ones the US imposed on Iran over the past decades. The announcement comes a few weeks after US President Donald Trump withdrew from the landmark Iran nuclear deal.
