UN must take action to end Israeli occupation: Pundit

An academic says there needs to be a United Nations resolution to condemn Israel, adding that concrete action should be taken to end the occupation of the Palestinian territories.

“The Palestinians now are asking for a special UN protection for the Palestinian people to replace the occupation in the occupied territories. That motion should be supported by these kinds of resolutions. We need something to be more practical on the ground,” Saeed Nimer, a professor of political science at Birzeit University, told Press TV in an interview on Friday.

“The problem is that all the time we know that any decision might be taken within the United Nations, the United States will be going to block it by using the veto or not even allowing the resolution to come forward to the United Nations Security Council,” he added.
