Junior Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers stand first in Mukhran Vakhtangadze cup

Junior Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers have produced commendable performances at the Mukhran Vakhtangadze tournament in Georgia, and took the crown in the international tournament.

The young Iranian sportsmen garnered 167 points to lift up the trophy. Ukraine finished as vice champion with 162 points. Representatives from Turkey tallied 119 points to claim the third spot.

Wrestlers from Armenia and Uzbekistan sat in the fourth and fifth places with 117 points each.

Pouya Nasserpour, Hossein Forouzandeh, Mohammad Hadi Saravi and Amin Mirzazadeh won four gold medals in the 55-kilogram, 82-kilogram, 87-kilogram and 130-kilogram weight classes respectively.

Bahram Maroufkhani and Vahid Dadkhah came second in the 63-kilogram and 97-kilogram divisions, and got two silvers.

Mohammad Choubchian settled for the bronze medal in the 77-kilogram weight category.

The Mukhran Vakhtangadze Greco-Roman wrestling tournament opened in the Black Sea resort city of Batumi on May 12, and finished on May 13, 2018.
