Iranian kickboxers claim title at WAKO Seniors Asian Championships

Male and female Iranian kickboxers have displayed great stand-up combat skills during the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) Seniors Asian Championships in Kyrgyzstan, and been crowned at the continental tournament.

The Iranians stood atop the podium at the end of the competitions in the northeastern Kyrgyz city of Issyk-Kul, having collected 28 gold, 23 silver and ten bronze medals.

The WAKO Seniors Asian Championships kicked off on May 5, and finished on May 12.

WAKO is the international organization of kickboxing. It was founded by American kickboxing promoter Mike Anderson, and his German friend, George Bruckner in Europe in 1976,

The World Association of Kickboxing Organizations aims to develop support and govern the sport at an amateur level in addition to holding world championship events.

WAKO supports 7 different styles of kickboxing: four of them are on the tatami and three of them are in the ring.
