Turkey threatens US 

The saber-rattling goes on between Turkey and the United States. In the latest war of words, Turkey has threatened to hit back if the US stops weapons sales to the country. The US House of Representatives is considering an arms embargo on Turkey. Turkey’s foreign minister has said that if the US imposes sanctions, Ankara will retaliate. Turkey is a member of NATO and the relations between the two countries have seen better days.

Israel UNSC membership bid

Israel has withdrawn its candidacy to become a member of the UN Security Council. Israel was competing with Germany and Belgium for one of the two seats at the Security Council. But the questions are: Is Israel even qualified to become a member of the UN Security Council? And would the regime use its membership at the body to advance its agenda at the expense of Palestinians and other regional nations?
