Iranian professional footballer Alireza Jahanbakhsh has been named the top goal scorer of the highest professional football league in the Netherlands, Eredivisie.

The 24-year-old sportsman, who plays as a winger and attacking midfielder for Dutch football club AZ Alkmaar and the Iran men’s national football team – domestically known as Team Melli, was capped 33 times in the 2017–18 Eredivisie and could net 21 goals.

He has also offered 12 assists, delivered 78 key passes and made 111 successful dribbles this season.

Jahanbakhsh is now the first Asian top scorer of a major European football league. He is likely to be picked up as the best player of the Dutch football league as well.

He is the third AZ Alkmaar player to win the Eredivisie top goal scorer title over the past 10 years.

Last year, AZ Alkmaar valued Jahanbakhsh at about £9 million ($12,193,200) amid interest from Premier League professional football clubs Watford, Bournemouth and Burnley, the Daily Mail newspaper reported.
