Thousands of drones illuminate night sky in impressive light show in China

A magnificent and impressive light show lit up the night sky in Xi’an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, Tuesday night to celebrate Labor Day.

A total of 1,347 drones equipped with colorful lights rose up to the sky above the ancient city at 20:05 Tuesday. Divided into groups and specific sequences, the drones were aligned in a way to present different images of Chinese characters to honor the holiday and the history of the city leaving the large amount of spectators overwhelmed.

The unmanned aerial vehicles, independently developed by China, was controlled and monitored by only one operator with one computer, a first in the world. The drones navigated within centimeters, were able to communicate with each other and make way for others to avoid any collision.
