Trump tweets 'so much fake news' after adult film actress interview

US President Donald Trump has blasted mainstream media by tweeting “so much fake news” following a highly-anticipated "60 Minutes" interview with adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

“So much Fake News. Never been more voluminous or more inaccurate,” Trump wrote on Twitter on Monday. “But through it all, our country is doing great!”

In an interview aired on CBS on Sunday, Daniels said she was intimated and bullied into signing a non-disclosure agreement about an affair she alleges she had with Trump. The adult actress said Trump’s longtime attorney, Michael Cohen, warned that her life could be made hell if she refused to accept the deal.

Cohen has said Trump never had an affair with Daniels despite admitting the payment of $130,000 to the actress without any clear reason.

In response to the allegation, the White House issued a statement, describing the story as "old, recycled reports, which were published and strongly denied prior to the election."

Daniels claims she had an affair with Trump before he was president and was paid a sum of money before the 2016 election to keep quiet.

Michael Avenatti, a lawyer for Daniels, questioned why Trump is not tweeting about his client.

“Isn’t it interesting that we have a president that will tweet about the most mundane matters, but he won’t tweet about my client, the affair, the agreement or the $130,000 payment?" Avenatti told "CBS This Morning,"

"You know why he won’t tweet about it? Because it’s true. It's 100 percent true."

So far, at least 16 women have accused Trump of unwanted sexual advances, allegations Trump dismisses.

Weeks before the presidential election in November of 2016, The Washington Post released a tape in which Trump boasted about how he sexually assaulted women because he was powerful.
