Italian police this week demonstrated that no one could escape the long paw of the law when they reunited six stolen puppies with their mother.
Police arrested a 26-year-old man who stole six puppies of Pomeranian breed from the house of a woman living in the Sicilian city of Ragusa.
On Wednesday, the woman denounced the theft of her six puppies born just a few weeks ago and then not self-sufficient. On the following day, police entered the house of a suspect, known for his criminal records and known by the woman since he had bought from her a puppy of the same breed just some months before.
The man denied any involvement during police questioning, but the faint barking of the puppies gave him away. Police broke into a room in the apartment and found the six puppies crowded inside a basket.
Police brought the puppies to their headquarters and called the victim of the theft, who arrived with the mother of the puppies for the reunion.
