Iran wins title at intl. So Kyokushin karate championships

Iranian karate practitioners have exhibited great punching, knee strikes as well as open-hand techniques at an international So Kyokushin field championships in the country, and claimed the top position.

On Friday and the final day of the competitions at Shahrak-e Naft Sports Hall in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz, located 834kilometers southwest of the capital Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran garnered the highest points in the men’s section and stood above Afghanistan. Iraq finished in the third spot.

In the women’s division, Iranian athletes won the crown. Contestants from Afghanistan landed in the second position of the chart.

Karate practitioners from Iraq’s Kurdish-populated city of Sulaymaniyah stood third, and had to settle with the bronze.

The international So Kyokushin field championships in Iran started on February 28 and finished on March 2, 2018.

Karatekas from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe participated in the event.
