Burkina Faso: Explosion and gunshots rock French embassy

Gun shots could be heard as a heavy torrent of smoke was seen rising from an explosion near the French embassy in Ouagadougou, Friday, following two attacks in the Burkinabe capital.

Seven soldiers were killed along with the eight attackers following multiple attacks on the French embassy, cultural center and headquarters of the military forces.

Seven soldiers were killed and around 50 people have been reported injured in the attack on the army headquarters, according to the Burkinabe government, while five attackers in a pick-up truck were reported to have opened fire while attempting to enter the French embassy. Around a dozen attackers in total were reported to have taken part in both attacks.
