Thousands of Filipino students gather to claim world's record for largest art lesson

Filipino students gather for largest art lesson world record attempt

Thousands of Filipino students have gathered at a public park in the capital Manila to claim a world record for the largest art lesson.

Students from about 200 schools in Manila's suburb of Quezon were given crayons and cardboard as they listened to an hour-long art session, which was conducted by a teacher who instructed the crowd on how to draw a mask from simple numbers.

Organizer and school supply company Expressions said they hoped to promote their advocacy on creative diversity among the students, who often neglect art in lieu of other subjects. Over 16,692 people participated in the event and the documentation will be handed to the Guinness World Record for evaluation before handing out the announcement.

India currently holds the title of the largest art lesson involving 14,135 participants in 2014, the Guinness World Record website said.
