Heavy rains and extensive flooding have hampered rescue efforts to find 14 people still believed to be missing following a major landslide on the Indonesian island of Java, Friday.

Families have been forced to leave their houses as many of the main streets are entirely flooded.

On Thursday, a hillside collapsed following heavy rains as farmers worked in rice paddies. The landslide left seven dead and 14 missing. The rescue crew consists of around 500 workers including police, soldiers and volunteers. (RUPTLY)
