Retirees demand better pensions, social security in Madrid
Thousands of retirees have protested outside the Congress of Deputies in Madrid, demanding higher pensions and better social security.
While chanting "thieves," the protesters denounced the Spanish government and exhibited numerous placards during the Thursday protest.
The demonstrators consider this year's 0.25 percent increase in pensions to be “too miserable and insufficient to keep up with inflation,” according to reports.
