Ethiopian PM resigns 

It’s been described as a transformational moment in the history of Ethiopia. The Prime Minister announced quit his posts as the prime minister and the chairman of the ruling coalition on Thursday. Desalegn says his resignation was aimed at paving the way for smooth political reforms. In his resignation text, he cited unrest and political crisis as major factors leading to resignation. The announcement comes following years of violent unrest in Ethiopia which has destabilized the second most population nation of Africa.

Bahrain revolution continues

Bahraini protesters are on the streets again on the seventh anniversary of its popular uprising. Demonstrators are calling for resistance against Manama’s harsh crackdown on dissent. The Bahrainis have kept up pressure on the regime since the revolution began in 2011. And protests have taken place almost daily in the country. meanwhile, 13 NGO’s have sided with the people of Bahrain in the face of the government crackdown. This time, the NGO’s have turned to Manama’s western supporters and the UN to pressure the Al Khalifah dynasty. The rights groups including the Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR), Front Line Defenders and the Gulf Centre for Human Rights (GCHR) called on the US, the UK, the EU and the UN to pressure Manama into releasing detained Bahraini human rights defenders and prisoners of conscience. They have also demanded that the UN special rapporteur to visit Bahrain.
