Russians hold traditional festival of 'Maslenitsa’ to welcome spring

Russians have marked the end of the traditional Mas-lenit-sa festival with pancakes and burning effigies. The ancient Slavic festival, which combines pagan and Christian traditions, is held annually to celebrate the coming of spring in Russia.
