Iran's FM due in Germany to attend Munich Security Conference

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is to set off for Germany to participate in the Munich Security Conference (MSC).

Zarif is scheduled to deliver a speech at the conference on Sunday about leading issues pertaining to regional and international security and will outline the Islamic Republic's stance in this regard, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Saturday.

He added that the top Iranian diplomat would also hold talks with a number of participants at the conference on the sidelines of the event.

More than 30 heads of state and government and over 100 cabinet ministers from across the globe are attending the Munich Security Conference, which opened on Friday.

Major international security challenges top the conference agenda.

The MSC 2018 will conclude on Sunday with a debate between members of US Congress and discussions focusing on the current political tensions in the Persian Gulf region.
