Venezuela calls early presidential election

Venezuela’s Constituent Assembly says the country’s presidential election will take place by the end of April. The vote was initially slated for December. But Caracas brought it forward in response to what it calls the US and the EU’s attempts to change the government in Venezuela. Incumbent President, Nicolas Maduro, says he’s ready to run in the election.
