Heavy snow disrupts traffic, cuts power in Ukraine

The undated photo shows heavy snow in Ukraine's Odessa province.

Heavy snow has disrupted traffic and left local residents without power and water in many regions across Ukraine.

Some areas in southwest Ukraine’s Odessa province received as much as 20 centimeters of snow brought by a recent cold snap.

Buses and trucks were restricted from traveling in several cities too, while the highway between capital Kiev and Odessa was temporarily closed.

Power outage has affected more than 700 residents in a dozen provinces; and some areas in Cherkasy province are still out of water supply.

The weather departments predict more snow from Sunday to Tuesday, along with snowstorm in some areas. In the mountainous Carpathian region in northwest Ukraine, mudslide has also been predicted.
