The all-out support that the Bahraini regime receives from its Western allies allows Manama to press ahead with arrest of religious scholars and destruction of mosques, says a commentator.

“Because it (the government in Manama) is getting financial support from Saudi Arabia, ... [and] the United Arab Emirates [as well as] security and military support from the US and UK, this ruling family (Al-Khalifah dynasty) feels free to do whatever it wants to do,” Saeed Shehabi told Press TV on Thursday.

So, human rights are being ignored “in the absence of any international reaction,” the political analyst noted.

Amnesty International has expressed deep concern about continued human rights violations in Bahrain, saying the situation reveals the Al Khalifah regime’s campaign to silence dissent voices in the kingdom.
