Ahmad Ziaei elected new president of Iran volleyball federation

Ahmad Ziaei, the new president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF)

The electoral assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF) has picked Ahmad Ziaei as the new president of the governing body responsible for volleyball in Iran.

During a voting session at the National Olympic Academy of Iran in western Tehran on Thursday, Ziaei secured 43 votes out of 44 ones cast. He took charge of the IRIVF for a four-year term until 2021.

Other contestants in the race were Karim Forouzan, Mohammad Taghi Hassanzadeh, Amir Hossein Monazzemi and Behnam Mahmoudi.

Ziaei succeeds Mohammadreza Davarzani, who stepped down as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation after 11 years to be appointed as the deputy of the Iranian minister of sports and youth affairs.
