US-Russia showdown over Ukraine

The US pledges to provide Ukraine with “enhanced defensive capabilities” to help it “deter further aggression.” The move will deepen Washington’s involvement in the country that is grappling with an armed insurgency in its eastern parts by pro-Russian militias. Russia has rebuked the US decision saying that it could lead to “new bloodshed”.
