Israel born in blood, giving Palestinian horror for years: Analyst

Lendman Israel Quds Palestine

The Israeli regime has been "born in blood", says an American analyst noting that worldwide protests are needed to protect Palestinians and boost anti-Israeli campaigns like the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, says an analyst and radio host in Chicago.

Stephen Lendman made the remarks while discussing recent protests against US President Donald Trump’s decision earlier this month in declaring Jerusalem al-Quds as the “eternal capital” of Israel.

The announcement provoked mass protests worldwide, with many leaders of Islamic countries harshly denouncing the US president.

Washington’s closest allies like the UK also blasted the decision and said they would not follow Trump’s lead in moving their embassies from Tel Aviv to the occupied city.

Meanwhile, protesters gathered near the White House on Saturday, waving Palestinian flags and carrying banners denouncing the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Lendman said Trump’s move was in breach of international law and the UN Security Council has the power to counter such decisions.

“Israel was born in blood, it is a high crime that has never been reversed,” he told Press TV. “No justification, nothing for Palestinians except endless years of state terror by Israel [and] by America.”

The analyst predicted that continued demonstrations against Trump’s decision, and against Israel’s occupation of Palestinian lands in general, would further give rise to the BDS movement.

This way, Lendman said, even Americans may get a chance to free themselves from the clutches of  “powerful interests.”

“Powerful interests make policies in America and other Western countries. They decide what is right, what is best for them and ordinary people get left out. They are abused, they are exploited,” he concluded.

The United Nations Security Council is mulling a draft resolution aimed at legally voiding any unilateral decisions on the status of Jerusalem al-Quds.

The Egyptian-drafted resolution was circulated among council members on Saturday and will probably be put to vote early next week.
