Iranian para powerlifters claim two gold medals in Asian Youth Para Games

Iranian sportsmen have demonstrated admirable athletic skills at the third edition of Asian Youth Para Games in the United Arab Emirates, and scooped two gold medals to raise the Islamic Republic’s medal count at the continental event.

On Monday evening, Mohsen Bakhtiar certainly proved that his condition has never stopped him from wanting to succeed in life, when he bagged the gold in the 54-kilogram weight category in Dubai.

Bakhtiar cleared the bar at 125 kilograms in his first attempt. He subsequently lifted 149 kilograms and 153 kilograms to claim the title. 

Alireza Izadi, another representative from the Islamic Republic of Iran, also snatched the gold medal with a best lift of 132 kilograms.

The third edition of Asian Youth Para Games kicked off on December 8, and will finish on December 14, 2017.
