China firm produces first battery-powered long-distance doorbell

The Dahua battery-powered Wi-Fi video doorbell - DB10

A leading manufacturer of security cameras has produced its first battery-powered long-distance video doorbell.

Media reported on Monday that China’s Dahua Technology Company had released the Wi-Fi video doorbell DB10 to the market.

The new doorbell enables home owners to answer anyone who comes to the door even when they are away.

Dahua, which is a solution provider in the global video surveillance industry, says old doorbells lacked network connectivity, and with no video recording, the householder could likely miss important visitors and information.

The new product comes with a mobile app and Cloud Services, which will forward in near real-time a video call that individuals can control and review from anywhere in the world.

The Hangzhou-based firm, with a stated mission of “Enabling a Safer Society and Smarter Living,” has also developed surveillance cameras, which Chinese police use to recognize and identify potential criminal suspects.

The cameras link the person to a data base that tells police all the locations a person of interest visited in the past week.
