Iranian female shooters crowned in Asian Airgun Championships

Iranian female sports shooters have exhibited great athletic skills and precision at the 10th edition of Asian Airgun Shooting Championships in Japan, and managed to strike a precious gold for the Islamic Republic at the continental sports event.

On Monday, the national Iranian women’s team, comprised of Fatemeh Ghodratollahi, Haniyeh Rostamiyan and Seyyedeh Shirin Mortazavi, tested their aptitude at team 10m air pistol shooting contests in the central Japanese city of Wako.

While Ghodratollahi could earn 386 points, Rostamiyan and Mortazavi accumulated 383 and 375 points respectively to help Iran be named the champion of the tournament.

Indian and South Korean teams came second and third in the competitions.

The 10th edition of Asian Airgun Shooting Championships started on December 6, and will finish on December 12, 2017.

A total of 407 shooters from 27 Asian countries are reportedly competing for medals at the tournament.
