Here is a brief look at Press TV newsroom's headlines from 18:00 GMT, December 9, 2017 to 08:00 GMT, December 10, 2017.

Palestine's response

Palestine’s foreign minister has called on member states of the Arab League to take action in response to the US president’s declaration of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital.

Riyad al-Maliki made the statement at an emergency meeting of Arab League foreign ministers in the Egyptian capital Cairo. Maliki also called on world nations to defy Donald Trump’s decision by recognizing the State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem al-Quds as its capital. The top Palestinian diplomat said Trump’s announcement revealed his hostility and bias toward the people of Palestine. He added that the decision destroyed any possibility of a negotiated settlement between Palestinians and Israelis. The Jordanian foreign minister also slammed the US measure and warned about its consequences for the region.

Terrorists' trace

The Syrian army has found a large amount of weapons and equipment left behind by Daesh terrorists, some of which are Israeli and US-made.

The discovery was made during an operation in Dayr al-Zawr province. The weapons include explosive devices, landmines and various types of ammo. The Syrian army said this shows the scale of the direct and systematic support provided to Daesh by regional and western states. During the past several years, Damascus on many occasions accused Washington and Tel Aviv of direct and indirect support of Daesh terrorist group.

No to Fascism

Thousands in the Italian city of Como have taken to the streets to denounce anti-refugee measures of the country's far-right groups.

Over ten-thousand anti-fascist demonstrators including leaders from the governing center-left Democratic Party marched through the streets of the northern city. Former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi was also among the protesters. The rally was organized after two separate attacks took place on meetings in support of immigrants in Como and the capital Rome. Northern Italy has experienced a rise in anti-immigrant sentiment since the beginning of the refugee crisis.

Slamming US plot

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has condemned the US recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as the Israeli capital, calling the move an act of aggression against the holy city.

Rouhani said the US and Israel hatched up a new plot against the people of Middle East after they failed to make terrorist groups dominant in the region. He stressed that Iran will not remain silent in the face of this conspiracy and will spare no effort to defend the rights of the Palestinian nation. Rouhani noted that the new US-Israeli plot is doomed to failure and that the Muslim world will someday liberate Jerusalem al-Quds from the occupation of the Israeli regime.

Palestinian anger

The Fatah party has called on Palestinians to continue protests against the US President’s decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as the Israeli capital.

Fatah urged Palestinians to keep up and broaden confrontation with the Israeli army at all points in the West Bank. Clashes have continued across the Palestinian territories in the wake of Donald Trump’s decision. Massive demonstrations took place in the city of Bethlehem and the Gaza Strip following a Day of Rage protest on Friday. Two Palestinian protesters have so far been killed, scores wounded and several detained by Israeli forces. The troops have used tear gas, rubber bullets and live fire to disperse protesters in different areas. Muslims around the world have also held rallies to express outrage at the controversial plan.

Warning of 'miscalculation'

The UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs says there is an urgent need to prevent miscalculations to reduce the risks of conflict on the Korean Peninsula.

Jeffrey Feltman has also called on Pyongyang to keep communication channels open. The UN Security Council has imposed several rounds of sanctions on North Korea over its latest missile and nuclear tests. Pyongyang says the US policy of hostility toward the country and its nuclear blackmail are to blame for the current tense situation on the peninsula. It has also warned Washington that its joint military exercises with South Korea risk the outbreak of a war in the region.
