At least 14 people have been killed and more than 30 are still missing after two passenger boats collided in the sea off southern Pakistan, officials say.

The boats, carrying more than 60 people in total, were ferrying pilgrims to visit a popular shrine in Sindh province when they collided and overturned in heavy winds near the ancient city of Thatta on Thursday, district official Mirza Nasir Baig said.

The 14 killed included women and children.

Provincial officials called for rescuers to rush to find any other survivors before nightfall.
