France's stance on PMF

France’s call for Iraq to disband the Popular Mobilization Forces, PMF, has drawn an angry response from Iraqis. French president Emmanuel Macron on Saturday called on Iraq to dismantle all militias, including the government-backed PMF. The 60,000 strong PMF also known as Hashed al-Shaabi was formed in 2014 after Daesh seized swathes of land in northern Iraq. Hashd al-Shaabi has played a pivotal role in helping defeat Daesh in Iraq and has inflicted heavy losses on the terror group which was once dreaded worldwide. And they have been endorsed by the Iraqi government. Macron’s remarks against Hashd are definitely seen as interference in Iraq’s internal affairs.

US-Saudi Palestinian plan

The administration of US President Donald Trump has apparently come up with a plan for the Israeli-Palestinian issue. The emerging details of the plan are giving the Israeli regime good reason to celebrate. Palestinian, Arab and European officials say Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas was presented with the US initiative during his recent trip to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Crown prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly told Abbas during a closed door session what the White House wants to be done. Palestinians would get noncontiguous parts of the occupied West Bank as their future state.  Almost all Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian lands would remain. East Jerusalem al-Quds would never be given to Palestinians. And to cap it all; no right of return for Palestinian refugees.
