Trump lawyer loosely takes responsibility for Flynn tweet: My mistake!

US President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, John Dowd

US President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer says it was his “mistake” that the president sent out a tweet, which posited potential evidence of obstruction of justice in the so-called Russia probe.

“I’m out of the tweeting business. I did not mean to break news,” attorney John Dowd told Axios on Sunday.

Trump tweeted on Saturday that he “had to fire” his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, “because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI.”

The tweet, sent out in the aftermath of Flynn’s acknowledgment that he lied to federal investigators, prompted speculation that Trump knew about it beforehand, implicating him in obstruction of justice.

Flynn lied about his conversations with the Russian ambassador to the US about sanctions related to Moscow’s alleged election interference.

The president, who apparently knew about Flynn’s lie, had asked then-FBI Director James Comey to drop the investigation on him.

In February, the Republican president dismissed his national security adviser, arguing that he lied to Pence, without mentioning the FBI.

Dowd’s new statement appears to be part of the administration’s damage control, although he acknowledged that the point of the tweet “was entirely correct.”

"It's just very sad. I don't know why the guy lied. He didn't need to," he added.

An investigation has been launched to find out whether the Russian government coordinated with Trump’s aides after the intelligence community’s conclusion that the Kremlin helped with the New York billionaire’s 2016 campaign effort, an allegation dismissed both by Moscow and the president.

The real story: Israel

According to E. Michael Jones, a writer and the editor of Culture Wars Magazine, Israel’s measures are the ones that led to the current situation.

“Flynn was told to talk to the Russians on behalf of the Israelis like Jared Kushner, Trump’s Jewish son-in-law,” said the Indiana-based analyst. “The Israelis were upset about an appending United Nations resolution, condemning the continued creation of settlements in the West Bank. Jared Kushner, as I understand it, pressured Flynn to talk to Russians to ask them to veto this thing.”

“So the real story here is not Russian meddling in the United States’ election, it’s Israel!”
