UEFA Champions League: Sevilla 3-3 Liverpool

Sevilla

Liverpool have thrown away the chance of early UEFA Champions League qualification as they gave up a 3-nil lead against their Spanish hosts Sevilla, who equalized in stoppage-time.

The visitors looked to be cruising into the knockout stage for the first time since 2009 when Brazilian Roberto Firmino scored on a corner just 2 minutes into the match.

Senegalese striker Sadio Mane doubled the lead with a diving header in the 22nd minute. 8 minutes later, Firmino scored his second and dismantled the hosts with a wonderful display. But, Sevilla were a whole different side in the second half. Two goals from Wissam Ben Yedder cut the deficit to 3-2 for the hosts.

Guido Pizarro then poked home in the 3rd minute of added time to snatch a draw for his side. The Merseyside Reds who remain atop Group E despite the draw will host Spartak Moscow on December the 6th, after the Russian outfit were held to a 1-all home draw by the Slovenian side Maribor.
