Iran defeats Palestine 4-0 in 2018 AFC U-19 Championship qualifier

Iran national under-20 football team, also known as Iran Youth Team, has pulled off a victory at the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-19 Championship qualification, triumphing over the Palestinian squad.

The Iranian outfit defeated Palestine 4-0 in its last Group E match at the multi-purpose Prince Mohammed Stadium in the Jordanian city of Zarqa, located 25 kilometers (16 miles) east of the capital Amman, on Wednesday evening.

The Iranian squad opened the game in a dominant fashion and Hossein Nokhodkar put his name on the score sheet in the 10^th minute.

Alireza Ghaderi Zefreh picked up the ball four minutes later, and doubled the Persians’ lead.

It was in the 44^th minute that Mohammad Khodabandehloo scored Iran Youth Team’s third goal.

Palestinian defender Mohammed Hammo received a second yellow card in the 60^th minute, and subsequently sent off.

Omani referee Mahmood Salim Said al-Majarafi showed Palestinian defender Fadi Qatmish a direct red card in the 61^st minute after the player behaved in a poor way, and was sent off the pitch.

Mohammad Bagheri scored Iran’s fourth goal of the match in the 75^th minute.

with five minutes remaining to the end of the regulation time, Iranian defender Taha Shariati received a red card, and had to leave the field of play.

Despite the win, the Iran national under-20 football team could not qualify for the 2018 AFC U-19 Championship.

The 2018 AFC U-19 Championship, which will be the 40th edition of the biennial international youth football championship organized by the AFC, will take place in Indonesia between October 18 and November 4, 2018.

Men’s under-19 national teams of Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Malaysia, North Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam have booked a place in the continental tournament.
