Lebanese artists bring 'peace' to country

Lebanese artists are using their skills to bring peace to the battle-scarred neighborhoods of the city of Tripoli. They are painting rooftops in a way that will spell out “Salam” which is the Arabic word for peace.

The project, which started three years ago, is the brainchild of 34-year-old twins Mohamed and Omar Kabbani. They chose a site spanning the Bab al-Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen neighborhoods, which have witnessed successive rounds of armed clashes in recent years. The artwork is approximately 1.3 kilometers on 85 rooftops. It will be visible from space.
