Ex-Qatari official says UAE planned invasion

Qatar's former deputy prime minister Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah recently said the UAE had planned to invade Qatar. He said the UAE had hired a "Blackwater-linked" private security contractor to train thousands of mercenaries for its invasion plan.  However, he said the plan was never carried out because US President Donald Trump didn't give the green light to it.  Some believe the revelation can deepen the fault lines in a Middle East that were opened in the wake of a recent Saudi diplomatic row with Qatar.
