Iran upsets Uruguay in FINA Water Polo Development Trophy
Iran men’s national water polo team has recorded its first victory at the 6th edition of the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) World Men's Water Polo Development Trophy in Malta, defeating the Uruguayan squad.
On Tuesday and the opening day of the international tournament in the central Maltese town of Gzira, the Iranian athletes overcame their South American counterparts 15-8.
The 6th edition of the FINA World Men's Water Polo Development Trophy opened on October 17, and will conclude on October 22, 2017.
The Iranian team is scheduled to play against Tunisia in its second match on Wednesday.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is drawn with Malta, Tunisia and Uruguay in Group A.
Australia, Peru, Saudi Arabia and Singapore are in Group B.
