The Indian Air Forces (IAF) celebrated its 85th anniversary with land and sky military performances at the Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad on Tuesday.

The Air Chief Marshal of the IAF, Birender Singh Dhanoa, inspected a guard of honor, which was followed by a military parade and a weapon rifle drill performed by IAF personnel. Dhanoa also handed out gallantry awards to IAF officers before giving a speech praising the accomplishments of the air force.

There were also air performances from the IAF's Akash Ganga sky diving team and the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT). The fly display involved vintage aircraft as well as modern transport aircraft and fighter planes.

The IAF was officially established on October 8, 1932, with a mission to secure Indian airspace and conduct aerial warfare during armed conflict.
