Here is a brief look at Press TV newsroom's headlines from 09:00 GMT to 17:00 GMT, October 4, 2017.

Erdogan in Tehran

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has officially welcomed his visiting Turkish counterpart Rejep Tayyip Erdogan. Rouhani received Erdogan at the Sa'ad-abad complex in northern Tehran. Erdogan is leading a high-ranking delegation and will hold talks with Iran’s president as well as the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Bilateral ties and regional issues, including the Syrian crisis and the recent controversial referendum in Iraq’s Kurdistan region will top the agenda for talks. Iran and Turkey have already expressed their opposition to the Kurdish vote, warning that it would lead to greater instability in the region.

Yemen civilians killed

Saudi Arabia’s unabated and daily bombardment of Yemen continues to claim innocent lives. In the most recent attacks, twelve civilians were killed as Saudi warplanes bombed a residential area in the town of Baqim in Sa’ada province. The air raid also left several people injured. Saudi Arabia began the war on its southern impoverished neighbor in March 2015. Since then, over 13,040 people, many of them civilians, have been killed in the aggression. The war on Yemen has been time and again decried by rights groups and international bodies.

Brexit negotiations

British Prime Minister Theresa May says her government is prepared in case the Brexit negotiations with the European Union do not succeed. She expressed hope that the bloc would accept Britain’s offer in dealing with deep and special partnership. She delivered her speech at the final day of the Conservative Party annual conference. The European Parliament has overwhelmingly backed a motion calling for trade talks with Britain to be delayed due to lack of sufficient progress. The British premier also apologized to the party for an unsuccessful election result.

Crimes against Rohingya Muslims

The influx of Rohingya refugees who are fleeing Myanmar’s violence continues with hundreds more arriving at Bangladesh in search for asylum. But the crisis grows larger still, as Myanmar’s military aggressively continues to drive the remaining Muslims from their homes. We have a report.

No to regional disintegration

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has reiterated that Tehran, Ankara and Baghdad will not recognize and strongly oppose the secession of the Kurdistan region from Iraq. He made the comment in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Rohani also said Iran, Turkey and Iraq will have to adopt serious measures to achieve their strategic objectives in the region. He lashed out at plots hatched by the enemy to fuel ethnic and religious division in the Middle East. The visiting Turkish president also reaffirmed Iran and Turkey’s opposition to the referendum on the secession of Kurdistan from Iraq.

Syria army gains

The Syrian army and its allies have recaptured the central province of Hama from the Daesh terror group. The London-based monitor known as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says Daesh is no longer present anywhere in the province for the first time in three years. The Syrian troops backed by Russian forces launched a campaign against Daesh in Hama in early September. According to the monitor, more than four hundred Daesh terrorists were killed during fierce clashes. The Syrian government holds large parts of Hama province, and all of the provincial capital. Pockets of territory in the northeast and south are still under other militants' control.

Israeli secession plot

The Turkish president says the decision to hold a secession vote in Iraq’s Kurdistan region is illegal and unacceptable as it involves the Israeli spy apparatus, Mossad.

Yemenis able to target Saudi bases

Saudi warplanes have again bombed Yemen, this time targeting a civilian area in Sa’ada province. The attack comes as the Yemeni army says it is now capable of targeting Saudi and Emirati bases from where air raids on Yemen are launched. Our correspondent, Mohammed al-Attab brings us more on the story in this report from Sana’a.
