Real Madrid have defeated Espanyol 2-nil in La Liga, thanks to a brace by Isco, to secure their 1st league victory at the Santiago Bernabeu this season.
The defending champions, who had failed to win their 3 league matches at home, took the lead in the 30th minute, when Isco converted Cristiano Ronaldo's through-ball.
Los Blancos dominated the match in the 2nd half, and it was Isco again, who curled-home Marco Asensio's pass to seal the victory for Zinadine Zidane’s galacticos, which now takes Real Madrid up to 5th place in the table.
Meanwhile, Valencia have moved up to 3rd in the standing, after beating visitors Athletic Bilbao 3-2 at the Mestaya stadium.
A goal by Italy striker Simone Zaza, and a penalty by Daneil Parekho gave the hosts a 2-nil lead at half-time. But, Aritz Aduriz pulled 1 back before the hour-mark for Bilbao.
Valencia striker Rodrigo then scored in the 66th minute to double the advantage for the hosts. However 10 minutes later, Raul Garcia pulled another one back for the away team, but it wasn’t enough to save Bilbao from the eventual 3-2 loss.
