Catalan judges sue Spanish govt. for blocking referendum

©PressTV

Catalan judges, lawyers, and prosecutors have drafted an official complaint against the Spanish government in protest against the measures being taken by Madrid to halt Catalonia's independence referendum.

150 Catalan judges, lawyers and prosecutors protested outside the Palace of Justice in Barcelona. They held banners asking Europe for help and shouted slogans against the Spanish government.

A Catalonian attorney says the complaint was filed to make it clear that Madrid has committed a crime of hatred against Catalans. The Spanish government has stepped up pressure on Catalonia in recent weeks to prevent the referendum vote which has been scheduled for October the first.
