EU to deport 1.5m 'illegal' asylum seekers

The European Commission unveils plans to deport 1.5 million asylum seekers from the EU, claiming that they don't meet the criteria to remain in the bloc. The Commission is also proposing that EU countries take in 50-thousand refugees from Africa and the Middle East. However, rights groups have described the move as a paltry, token gesture given the scale of the World's refugee crisis.
